The Pioneer cluster is funded through an EPSRC Equipment Grant 2001 and provided by Workstations UK Ltd. The 20 1GHz Athlon processors with 500Mb memory are managed by Sun's Grid Engine (an open source scheduling system) running in a Redhat 7.l Linux environment. The processors are linked through a 100Mbit commodity network.
