Sun Centre of Excellence in e-Science

The London e-Science Centre has been recognised by Sun as a Centre of Excellence in e-Science. The initial thrust of this collaboration will be through EPIC - developing portal and scheduling infrastructures to support e-Science - one of the Centre's industrial projects.

The Centre will also collaborate with a Sun Centre of Excellence in Networking based at University College London, to join our two local Campus Grids (constructed using Sun Grid Engine) to build a Regional Grid between the two sites. Through this infrastructure we will examine issues relating to cross-site job scheduling and ensuring predictable data transfers through network Quality of Service (QoS).
