LeSC's Role
As part of the EPSRC/DTI e-Science Core Technology Programme the London e-Science Centre has
been charged with running a research and development programme involving academia and industry.
The wider objectives of the Centre are:
- To establish up and maintain a Grid environment based on the e-Science Director's Grid Starter
Kit.
- To mount a programme of industrially collaborative projects developing and deploying generic
Grid technologies.
- To promote awareness of Grid and e-Science technologies
- To act as a local source of advice and training in Grid and e-Science technologies.
- To contribute infrastructure to the National Grid.
The Centre has a specific responsibility for the Higher Education Institutions in the London area.
